I sure hate to say this but sometimes, we all STINK!  Well, that is our thoughts STINK! More often than we would like to admit, our thoughts can get the best of us. One thing out of our control will lead to negative thinking and just like that, we have a bad day.

One thing that I know with certainty is that we all have a choice. We have a choice to consciously select positive thoughts over negative thoughts.  We also have a choice to select negative thoughts over positive ones. Unfortunately we make a lot of these choices without being aware. That is where awareness comes in. Through awareness, we can consciously change our thoughts and turn things around.

Recently, when I was feeling a bit down, I started to wallow in that negative thinking. Fortunately, however, once I realized I was choosing negative thoughts, I was able to change them immediately. My thoughts were that I can choose to be miserable or accept what I cannot change and replace the negative thoughts with positive ones.

It reminds me of the stories about bullying that I hear regularly these days. The one thing in common with all of them is that they started out with negative thinking that grew way out of control. We need to constantly remind ourselves that we have choice when it comes to our thinking. When we do, it helps remind us that we can choose something different in the moment.

Bill

It is critical to change any self-limiting beliefs that you carry with you. What I have learned is that a lot of our “STINKIN” beliefs are passed down to us in the form of family, friends and things not really about us.  We can easily pick up beliefs that others held for themselves and many of those were passed down to them. It isn’t about awareness because if we were aware, we would certainly not buy into some of these.

Here is what I have learned about beliefs:
1) Beliefs are really just thoughts held to be true.
2) They are not right or wrong, true or false.
3) They are simply VERY strong OPINIONS we hold.

To eliminate those self-limiting beliefs, here are a few things that I have done that helped me get rid of them:
1) Become aware of your STINKIN’ beliefs. When you hear that little voice, ask the question, “What would I have to believe to make this true?” and “Is this belief worth changing?” If it is, continue to #2:
2) Change your thoughts. Purposefully change what you think about for the self-limiting belief. Simply re-affirm a positive belief instead. For example, Old belief: “I am a slow reader.” will change to “I AM a fast reader who comprehends everything I read.” Now, just saying those words will not change the belief so you have to go to #3.
3) Re-write or Re-program the old belief. This consists of two parts: 1) Create repetition to re-enforce the new belief and 2) Take action to help convince yourself that the new belief is true. For the reading example above, you would find resources to help you with reading. Maybe you could take a reading class, hire a reading specialist, find something on YouTube, the internet or a book store. Then create the repetition of learning and re-enforcing the new belief.
4) Change the words you use. Create powerful affirmations that support the new belief and practice several times each day. Use the words “I AM” to get maximum effect. It would look something like this: “I AM a powerful, positive person. I read fast and comprehend everything I read with ease.”

What are some of your self-limiting beliefs? Do you care to share them here? If not, please feel free to email me directly.

upset_faceI was working out at the club this morning and while taking a shower, a unbelievable smell filtered into my nice peaceful shower.  And let me tell you, it STUNK!  I was literally gasping for air.  Someone must have taken their shoes off and boy, they must have had them on for days without taking them off.  That was a serious case of STENCH!

It got me to thinking.  What if thoughts really had a smell to them?  How would people react in our presence?  Would we even leave the house?  Just imagine where you are right now and if you knew thoughts smelled.  They could smell SA-WEET or quite badly if you had lots of negative ones.  What would you smell like?  Kind of makes you wonder, huh?  Well, look no further my friend.  You can find out right now if your thoughts are stinky and more importantly, what to do about them.  Click here to determine your current state of thoughts and whether or not they would SMELL.

What do your thoughts SMELL like?  Come back here and post your score and what they smell like.  Or, if they STINK too badly, email me at bill@positract.com so we can help you get your STINK out!

bonus4The funny thing for me is that I have always believed in the Law of Attraction, however, I didn’t know it had a name.  From the time I can remember, I believed in positive thinking bringing positive results.  I knew there was something missing with that logic because just thinking about it wouldn’t necessarily make it happen.  I already used visualization (in sports) teamed with positive thinking to become a very good 4-sport athlete.  As I got older, I realized the missing ingredient to make the Law work for you was taking action.

I have lots of stories of the Law of Attraction because I live it every day.  Little things that most people believe are “coincidences” occur every single day to me.  My story for this article involves manifesting a repair to my roof caused by wind damage.  I live in the DFW area and we had a major wind storm with winds topping out at 85MPH in our town.  My roof was badly damaged and there were thousands of roofs damaged in the Metroplex.  I called my roofing company and it took nearly 2 hours to get someone live on the phone.  They told me that there were about 350 people ahead of me because of the damages from the storm.  I left my information and they told me it would be a minimum of 2 weeks before they could even take a look at it to give me an estimate.  That was Thursday around noon.

For the first couple of hours after the call I was frustrated and worried because the forecast was for more severe thunderstorms over the next week.  Also, from my attic you could actually see daylight in several places which meant major water damage if it rained.  The next morning on my way to the office, I decided I would try positive affirmations and visualization.  I didn’t set any expectations or deadlines, I just visualized my roof being taken care of whether it was because the rain that was forecasted would miss our house for the next several weeks or my roof would be repaired.  Within ten minutes, yes ten minutes, after starting the positive affirmations and visualizations something strange happened.

My phone rang and it was the roofing company.  They said that there was someone in our area and might be able to stop by today.  I was floored.  I continued to do positive affirmations and visualizations on and off all day long.  When I got home, the roofing company was working on the repair and actually completed the major repair.  As they started coming down from the ladder, it started to rain.  And I mean rain.  It poured for the next two days.

I was so grateful because if they had not come that day, I would have had serious water damage because of the holes in the roof from the wind damage.  By changing my negative outlook to a positive one, then practicing visualizing a positive outcome without putting restrictions on HOW it was going to turn out, actually led the Law of Attraction to get my roof repaired.  If they had come a day or even a couple of hours later, major damage would have resulted.

I suggest that even if you do not believe in the Law of Attraction, try it anyway.  What do you have to lose but sending positive energy where it was negative before.

Peace and gratitude,
Bill
