June Kindness Challenge:  Can you make a difference?  You feel called to make the world a better place, but when you watch the news you think, “How can one person possibly affect real change?”  You are the answer you seek!  You can make a difference by personally practicing random acts of kindness everyday.  A fun way to track the impact you’re having is to play Bill King’s Kindness Challenge at www.idontstink.com.  (Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Stinks!)  Bill has challenged us to do 5,000 kind acts in June.  Are you up to the challenge?  Every time you do something kind in June, go to www.idontstink.com to log your kind acts and watch the total skyrocket!  No kind act is too small, and together we can make the world a better place, one random act of kindness at a time!

Today I needed to run a few errands.  As I started out, I noticed I was going to need to get gas soon.  I had plenty to do the things I needed to do but something told me to go get gas, so I trusted it.  The moment I started pumping the gas, I heard “thump, thump, thump, thump.”  Before I even looked up, I knew what that sound was, a flat tire.  I walked over to the car where a lady was wondering what was going on.  She rolled down the window and I asked her if I could help.  She was relieved and immediately replied, “YES!”  I finished pumping the gas while she cleaned out her trunk to get to the spare tire.  I changed her tire and as I finished she said, “Thank you so much.  You sure have done your kind deed for today.  This really the qualifies your kind deed for the whole week ahead.”  That was really cool.  I told her she was welcome and drove off.  I was now dirty and sweaty and needed to go back home to clean up a bit.  I didn’t get to all my errands but I sure felt good after doing the kind deed.

As I thought about this incident, I could not help but remember all the times that people showed up to help me when I had car trouble or needed assistance.  My intuition or gut told me not only to get gas, but which gas station to go to.  Since this gas station was in the opposite direction of where I was headed, I probably would have either waited to get gas or get it closer to where my errands where if I hadn’t listened to my intuition.  She was truly grateful just as I was truly grateful for others that helped me.  When you learn to trust your intuition, you will not only transform your life, you will also help lots of people.

Beginning June 1st, I am issuing a Kindness Challenge.  The Challenge will consist of logging 5,000 kind deeds on my Kindness Meter at www.idontstink.com for the month of June.  Get ready to be challenged.  Don’t wait until June 1st, start today.

Love and gratitude,

Bill

I just finished watching the DVD “The Future We Will Create: Inside the World of TED.”  What an awesome documentary!  I highly, highly, highly recommend that everyone watch it.  I had never heard of the TED (Technology Entertainment Design) before but what a cool organization.  When you watch it, you will be reinforced about the positive future we will create together.

This conference is truly unique.  It brings in venture capitalist and people with loads of money in the same room with a number of presenters.  Each presenter has 18 minutes to pitch their technology to the group.  Most of the pitches are around how to use technology to make a difference in the world.  I would like to add more about it but do not want to give anything away.  All I can say is that the show was truly inspiring and left me with a very good feeling that there are people helping people everywhere.  Also, the technology was incredible and yet made so much sense.  Take a few minutes to watch this movie.  It is on Showtime this month if you get the chance.

Love, peace, and hope,

Bill

This week was a very busy week for me. I have found that ever since I left my corporate job, I am actually working harder and longer than ever before. I went down this path for over a month before I realized that since I teach balance, I need to also live it.

As a result, I took a day off to play in a golf scramble. Boy, it sure was fun. I actually won a “closest to the pin” contest. It was a very difficult shot and when the awards ceremony announcement came, I was told that I won a “box of plastics.” I thanked them for my gift and went back to my table. The box was heavy so I wondered what was in it. I opened it and discovered that I had won a case of sandwhich bags. You have got to be kidding me! What in the world am I to do with 3600 sandwhich bags? If you have any idea, please let me know.

I would love to hear some creative ways to use these bags. I guess I could always use them as Christmas presents. :-)

Love and peace,
Bill

Today, I finished planting Tomatos, Cucumbers, and Okra in my two earthboxes.  I got a lot of help from my best buddy and five year old neighbor.  He was a BIG help for such a small package.  Tomatos 2008

The cool thing about him (and his younger brother) is that they remind me each day how wonderful life is.  Not a care in the world other than to have fun.  We started our project yesterday but only completed one box.  I told him that when I got home from work tonight he could come over and help me with planting the next box.  When I drove up to my house, as I open the door he was already running over to get to work.  He had his work gloves on and was carrying his giraffe shovel.  It was priceless.  After working about an hour, he said something very funny.  He said, “You know, I like it better just watching than working.  I am just gonna sit and watch you a while”.

I will keep you posted on the growing of my plants.  I have grown tomatos for the past 3 years and it is unbelievable how quick they grow.  I haven’t done cucumbers or okra before so I am excited about growing them too.

Have a wonderful, peaceful, and loving weekend.

Bill

Hello everyone.  This morning there were some powerful storms that came through the Dallas Metroplex.  I was looking out my window after the heavy stuff was over and saw two kids playing in the rain.  They had a little puddle that they just could not help playing in.  One rode his three-wheeler while the other one pushed a big dump truck back and forth through the water.

This reminded me that I used to do the same thing when I was growing up.  After each heavy rain, I would immediately go outside and play.  I loved to build boats and “launch” them down mini river that was actually a ditch.  Boy, that sure was a fun time.

I think we all can learn something from this.  Sometimes we need to just have fun.  Forget about all of our worries and just do something fun.  Because of this, I set up a golf outing for later this week.  This boys sure taught me something today.  Thank you!
