I am making today a Gratitude Day.  I am challenging myself to give gratitude at least 1,000 times.  Some of the things I will do is say “Thank You God, Thank You” many, many times as well as think of as many gratitude thoughts as I can.  I will review some notes that I made last month as I reflected on all of my accomplishments of 2008.  I will read the list often and I will give gratitude to God for such a wonderful day!

Thank you God, Thank you! (See, I already have 2 with 998 more to go!)  2009 will be my BEST year EVER!

Peace and gratitude, (997 left)

Bill

This morning I was driving to the health club and watched as freezing fog invaded my town.  As I thought about the fog, I knew there was clear sky above it and it got me thinking.  Many of us get smothered in negativity and negative thinking.  Sometimes it is so persistent we can’t see the good in anything.  It is kind of like that fog I saw this morning.img_0822

One thing about positive thinking is that sometimes you have to trust that there is something good going to happen to you.  When I get into any kind of negative state, I see it as a signal that I need to change my thinking because if I don’t, I am destined to have a miserable day.  img_0819Sure, some days are more difficult than others but when that happens to you, think about this fog example.  Realize that there are blue skies awaiting you if you can change your thoughts.  Before you know it, things will clear up and you will discover that you had nothing to worry about at all.

Peace, love, and positive thoughts,

Bill

For those of you who received my eNewsletter last week, I thought I would share with you how I am doing the exercise this month.  For those of you who have not signed up for my eNewsletter, not to worry.  I will recap the exercise right now:

My 3 Frames for 2009

My 3 Frames for 2009

January’s Fearless Focus section of my newsletter challenged you do the following:

1) Create (3) 8×10 Picture frames based upon themes you want to accomplish in 2009.  Mine were: Focus, Creativity, & Gratitude. (See image below)

2) Decide which theme you want to work on this month.

3) Create a 8×10 mini vision board each month of this year based upon the theme from those frames.  (See my January’s FOCUS mini vision board below.)

4) Place it on your desk or close to a place where you will see it all during the day.  Take a few minutes to review the images, words, theme, etc. throughout your day.

I thought it would be a good idea to illustrate how I am doing the exercise.  I  believe that it is important to stay “focused” on your goals for 2009 especially with so many negative people voicing their opinion these days.  If you haven’t had a chance to look at the vision board software from my newsletter, you really should take a minute to evaluate it for yourself.  Click here to check out the software. I created my FOCUS mini vision board poster using the tool in less than 10 minutes.  I then printed and framed it.  Since I will be repeating the same process each month, the vision board software is perfect for me because it saves me so much time not to mention it is so cool.  What I like best about the software is that after I created my vision board screensaver, all I had to do was click a button to get all the images imported into my new poster board.  That was how I was able to create the mini vision board in less than 10 minutes.  Click here to find out how the software can work for you. You can thank me later.
I would really like to hear how you are doing with the exercise.  Please place any comments or feedback directly using this post.
2009 WILL be my FINEST year ever!  Will it be yours?  Decide now and make it so!
Peace, love, and mucho gratitude,
Bill

Earlier today, I was making a goal card to put in my pocket.  I put packing tape on it to keep it from tearing up.  When I was trimming the edges, a piece of tape fell on the floor.  I looked down and could not find it anywhere.  I rubbed my hand over the carpet but did not see or feel it at all.  I forgot about it and walked away.

When I came back to my office later, I saw it immediately.  It got me thinking.  Just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it is not there.  It is kind of like the power of positive thinking.  It is not something you can see, but for me, I know it is there.  If you work too hard at positive thinking, you can easily miss the message or miss something right in front of your eyes.  When you learn to trust that all will work out, it will.  It is through positive thinking and visualization that you get to reach your goals.

A very easy way to start working on your own positive thinking is to do a fun and easy exercise called, “Take Out Your STINKIN’ Trash”.  Click on the link and check it out.  It is the very first step to changing negative thinking to something positive.  I know I take my trash out all the time and when I do, I feel so SA-WEET!

Peace and gratitude,

Bill

You know, the Law of Attraction really works!  It is something I practice daily but sometimes I have to be reminded.  For the past 10 years that I have been going to our local post office, I have not had good success in getting in and out quickly.  Every single time I went in to mail a package, there would be a long line.  That was until this week.

As I started off to the post office, I immediately thought, “Man, it is going to be crowded.”  I quickly caught myself and focused on having an empty line when I got there even though my belief told me this wasn’t possible.  I did my visualization and released the outcome.  When I got to the post office, sure enough, there wasnt’ a single person in line.  I walked straight up and mailed my packages.  In and out in less than 3 minutes!  The funny thing is that when I was walking out, there were over 10 people standing in line.  Interesting, huh?

Fast forward to the next day.  I was again on my way to the post office and my thought was, “Man, it is going to be crowded.”  Due to my state at the time, I just couldn’t change it.  Sure enough, I got to the post office to find at least 10 people in front of me.  Some of them with 10-15 packages to mail AND they were short a window person.  It took me a good 30 minutes to mail my packages.

Fast forward to earlier today.  It was the busiest part of the day (so I have “learned”) for the post office and I was on my way to ship some more packages.  My instant thought was, “It is going to be so packed!”  I quickly caught myself and changed that thought.  I visualized an empty line and getting in and out within 5 minutes.  As I walked in, there was only one person working but there was only one person checking out.  By the time I walked up to get in line, that person left and I walked straight up to mail my packages.  As I was leaving 3-4 minutes later, there was a line of at least 10 people.  Very interesting.

I tell this story because prior to this past week, I NEVER got in and out in less than 20 minutes.  However, the two times I practiced visualization and changed my negative thoughts this week, I got exactly what I intended the outcome to be.  Some may say it was a “coincidence” but I say it is focused intention.  I challenge you to practice changing your negative thoughts and using visualization.  What do you have to lose?

Peace and gratitude,

Bill

Thoughts + Visualization + Action = Results – This is what I was thinking about last night when my wife and I went for a walk.  It started out pretty hot (in the 90’s at 9PM here in Dallas) but quickly got cooler as a storm started rolling in.  As the lightning was lighting up the sky in the distance, I started thinking about T+V+A=R.  I thought back to a lot of stress I chose to experience when dealing with getting my son’s car fixed.  I spent weeks letting it bother me because it just wasn’t right the way they were treating me by not covering the A/C under warranty.  Once I realized that I was giving so much negative energy to the situation, I decided to change my mind and try T+V+A=R.

I decided to think only positive thoughts about the car situation (the R).  Before doing it, I was only fixated on the fact that it would be about an $1100 repair.  I then decided to visualize the car being picked up with a fixed A/C AND not having to pay (the V).  The action step for me was two fold.  The first was to actively change my thoughts through meditation.  The second step was to call the dealer and “kill ’em with kindness” even more than I had done before.  Well, what do you know?  After well over 4 weeks of stress, the very day I practiced this I got a call from the dealer.  Within two hours they told me, “We have good news for you.  The A/C is working perfectly AND there is no charge…”  2 hours!  Hmmm.  2 Hours!  Incredible!

So, the next time you are dealt with something that is bugging you, try T+V+A to get the results you want.

Peace and gratitude,

Bill
